The Cercenà peat bog The Cercenà peat bog covers a plateau area of approximately 4 ha, at an altitude of around 1315 m. This is a topogenous bog with a prevalence of transition mires (7140) and active raised bogs (7110*). Its most characteristic aspect, however, is represented by Pino mugo-Sphagnetum, which is actually fairly well preserved, although not yet very dense. The presence of Sphagnum fuscum indicates more advanced situations, of more acidic, drier hummocks. Calluna and Vaccinium, Eriophorum vaginatum and Carex pauciflora are always very abundant on the hummocks. In the depressions, together with Andromeda polifolia and Vaccinium microcarpum (present also on the smaller hummocks), to note are the rare Rhynchospora alba and a cluster of Carex lasiocarpa. In the trichophore site (on beds of Sphagnum magellanicum, S. capillifolium, S. angustifolium and even S. fallax ) only Drosera rotundifolia can be found in abundance, while there is no lack of consortia of Carex nigra and Carex rostrata.
